ELLIE.
I don’t know what I want, so don’t ask me
‘Cause I’m still trying to figure it out.
Don’t know what’s down this road,
I’m just walking, trying to see through the rain coming down.

Amortentia:
The first thing Elanor smells in this love potion in the refreshing, comforting smell of her favorite herb and garnish, peppermint. In the wooded fields surrounding her family’s small acreage in northern Britain wild peppermint grows, and as a small child Elanor used to pick it for her mother; it is the dominant memory of her childhood. Lemon meringue pie, being a favorite of Elanor’s, she also smell in Amortentia. Lastly, but probably the fragrance she finds most attractive and comforting is the smell of a horse: like sunshine, dust, hay, and sawdust all mixed together.
Boggart:
Elanor’s Boggart is her twin sister Lizzy drowning. Elanor cannot swim, and she is inwardly terrified of drowning; her other worst fear is her twin sister dying. As such, the Boggart usually combines her two equally worst fears into one nightmare-inducing vision, which has taken Elanor a very long time to master.
Patronus:
Elanor’s Patronus is a strangely enough, a platypus. A Duck-billed Platypus. Jokingly referred to as proof that God has a sense of humour, a platypus is not what one usually thinks of when the imagine a protector against Dementias, though there is certainly a marked resemblance between Elanor and the humble Platypus, and one very conspicuous difference. First of all, while they look nothing alike, both are often held in ridicule (and, much less often, endearment) for their odd combination of physical features. Elanor for her glasses, frizzy mousy brown hair and short stature, the platypus for its remarkable similarity to a beaver, and for the ridiculous, completely out-of-place bill it sports. However, beneath both seemingly harmless surfaces, there lies a hidden tenacity: Elanor’s being her frightful temper (and the bravery that comes with it), whereas the platypus wields venomous claws capable of crippling pain and immobilization. There are many other similarities, but only one sticking point: a platypus is a semi-aquatic mammal, and Elanor is terrified of swimming. This perhaps points to the fact that Elanor may one day be able to overcome her fear.

Personality:
Elanor is fairly studious, and takes her tests and papers very seriously. You certainly will not find her cramming for tests or procrastinating on of Slughorn’s essays. She sees her school as her career, and takes the utmost measures to be absolutely sure she is excelling at her academic career. Any grade less than an E is considered a failure in her book, and though she has yet to fail a test or a paper, Elanor rarely flaunts her knowledge in class, preferring to sit quietly and take neat, orderly notes on everything the professor says, no matter how trivial. And you can bet that she’ll study those notes for hours before tests and have them organized chronologically and cross-reference them with stacks of library books and texts.
As a side effect of the near-constant study sessions that Elanor partakes in, she has absolutely no social life. Or, perhaps, her studiousness stems from the aforementioned lack of friends. Either way, you’ll not find her gracing the social circles of Hogwarts, except perhaps as a joke or a moment’s ridicule. Never one to find the cutthroat, rumour-clogged world of typical teenage girls, Elanor gave up on friends after her first year. It had nothing to do with the fact that perhaps she suffered from a terminal case of shyness, but because her glasses and frizzy hair made her an instant social disgrace to be with, even in the complicated world of 11 year olds. Not one to be socially inclined, Elanor doesn’t really mind the ostracism, though she has begun to get past the crippling bashfulness of her early years. However, that particular disease rears its ugly, silent head every time she is around boys. She never did seem to find the courage to talk to them, because, well, they're boys. And she's a dork. Nothing really adds up with that equation.
Despite her introversion around the male gender (and a good many females, as well), Elanor is actually quite a friendly, perpetually cheerful girl, and gets along well with mostly anyone once she gets to know them. She is a very sweet and willing to help out anyone, as most Ravenclaws are, and the Queen Dork, as Lizzy would say. She has quirky taste in clothes, but usually just prefers a comfortable wardrobe. She also never wears make-up, since A) it’s time-consuming, B) it’s a waste of money, C) it’s a pain in the ass, and D) it’s kind of pointless. In her opinion, anyway.
Despite the lack of friends, Elanor is almost infamous for her obsessive-compulsive organization. If you looked up ‘neat freak’ in the dictionary, ‘Elanor Marie Edwards’ would most likely be right next to the definition, if not the definition. Her closet is organized by color, season and fabric. All of her notes are kept in file folders sorted by subject, year, and subsection. She has a table of contents for all her subject notes and the books she cross-references. All of her text books have sticky notes on almost every page reminding her of important information, diagrams and many, many random doodles (around the edges, of course), and she also keeps a folder of her old essays for cross-referencing and studying reasons. She will stop whatever she is doing to straighten a crooked picture or put something back in its rightful place.

Hair:
Elanor’s hair falls just past her shoulders and is a dark, mousy brown, and rather frizzy despite her extensive hair care routine, with slight, natural waves in it. She usually wears it down, sometimes in a ponytail, but never putting much effort into how her hair is worn.
Eyes:
Elanor has almost-shaped eyes, with an average amount of average length lashes framing them. Her irises are a deep mahogany brown, though she would just describe them as just boring brown.
Complexion:
Like any teenager, she is not without occasional breakouts, but it’s not a huge deal for her. Her skin is just a normal, healthy peachy-pinkish color, neither pale, nor tan.
Height:
5’1”
Weight:
110 pounds
Build:
Average: not athletic, but not willowy, or slender. She’s perfectly fine with her body.
Unique Features:
She has a small birthmark just above her left eyebrow. She only has her ears pierced, but rarely wears earrings; other than that, Elanor is not really a fan of tattoos and piercings and has no other physical distinguishing features besides her height… or lack thereof.

Family:
Mother: Maryanne Edwards
Father: William Jacob Edwards
Brothers: N/A
Sisters: Elizabeth (Lizzy) Jane Edwards (twin)
History:
Born just 10 minutes apart, Elizabeth and Elanor are identical twins and best friends. However, at age 5, something weird began to happen around Ellie: things moved without anyone touching them, items spontaneously burst into flames… Her parents were worried, naturally, but they soon learned to live with it, and life went on, despite Ellie’s strange abilities. Little did they know that their youngest daughter was a witch. They were, however, about to get a rude awakening.
The rest of her childhood passed uneventfully enough. Eventually, the family moved out of the city and into rural areas of Britain to live on a large acreage with a small stone cottage and rolling fields and woods. There, Elizabeth and Elanor receiving a pony for their 7th birthday, and later, after that pony died, they each got their own horse and began competing, Elanor in hunter/jumper, and Elizabeth in show jumping. Through it all, Lizzy and Ellie were inseparable, and since they were polar opposites, they balanced each other out nicely, behaving best when together.
Then, when Ellie was 10, an owl came carrying a very strange letter that would unintentionally ruin Elanor’s relationship with her sister. This was, of course, the acceptance letter of Hogwarts, though her parents thought it was a joke, and it was then that Elanor had to prove it wasn’t, by using the magic powers she had somewhat begun to learn controlling. Of course, Lizzy was furious that her sister had special powers and got to go to a special school and learn cool things while she was stuck in the purgatory of the public school system with no magic powers aside from smart-assery.
In September of the very same year, no less than two weeks after the owl had arrived, Ellie was off to Hogwarts. Lizzy still had not forgiven her, but was working through some of her (very angry and possibly homicidal) feelings. Ellie’s first year at Hogwarts was the usual for first years. She gawked at the great hall’s magical ceiling, watched with amazements as students transformed teacups into rabbits, observed with wide, inquisitive eyes the teachers and older students performing magic beyond her comprehension, and, more than a few times, got miserably lost in the maze of corridors that the Hogwarts castle was home to. everything had been so alien, and strange to her. growing up as a muggle child, Ellie had no idea that such places even existed, much less that she would have the honour of attending a magic school. she had never seen magic, or the strange contraptions that wizards used to replace the more sophisticated muggle inventions Ellie had seen and used, and was shocked beyond imagination by the world she had fallen into without warning. she missed terribly all the familiarity of her muggle world, with the purring cars and the electronic gadgets that made life easier. Ellie was sorted into the Ravenclaw house, after a few moments deliberation by the Sorting Hat; it had dithered between Ravenclaw and Ravenclaw.. She managed to absorb all the lessons the various teachers drilled into her head, and she quickly found out that potions was her absolute least favorite class.
Now that she was used to the wizarding world, she found that it was much easier to fit in with the rest of the students in her house, most of whom had grown up witnessing the same things Ellie had only seen for a year. This was the year that she learned why some students disdained her for her heritage; consequently, Ellie stayed away from Slytherins after than. The years after that were not very eventful, though she wrote to Lizzy almost every day and kept a very extensive diary.

Ellie sat crossed legged by the Lake on a dry patch of grass, fingers templed underneath her chin as she contemplated the scene before her. The lake glittered in the afternoon sun, occasional ripples from the Squid stirring up the otherwise smooth surface of the water. But it wasn’t the serene lake that captured her interest. It was the wide, flat expanse of mud spread before her that she stared at, childishly imagining all the things that she could do with so much mud. A grin spread readily on her face as she thought longingly of the mud fights she and Lizzy used to get into; like snowball fights in the winter, only with sticky, oozing mud.
But here at Hogwarts, where muggles -and thus, her twin sister- were not allowed she had no one to sling mud at. At least not without getting her ass kicked. So instead of instigating a school-wide mud war, Ellie did what any sane 16 year old girl would do: she started making mud patties. Of course, such childish activities are no fun when there’s no one to share the immaturity with, so Ellie would have to make do with her own companionship. She set about the
After moulding 3 deadly flying saucers, she set them out near the shore of the lake on a few rocks, hoping the afternoon sun would work its magic. She wandered haphazardly back to the school, thoughts of playing Ultimate Frisbee flitting through her head.
