If anyone were to walk into this classroom right now, what they would see is nothing out of the ordinary. A studious Ravenclaw reading in the quiet by herself. That wasn't what was going on though. Not at all.
Autumn sat there, by herself, pictures in the book pages, sighing every so often. She really wasn't in the mood for anything but being home, but this classroom was the closest thing she had to it right now. The only thing that was missing was...well...someone to hug her.
No, Autumn wasn't depressed. She was just nostalgic. Looking onward to a photo of her and her father when she was 3 years old, a tear started to roll down her cheek.
She looked around the room, to actually try and figure out what classroom she was in. Tanks of magical creatures, pictures of transfigured animals. It wasn't really that hard to figure out she was in a Transfiguration room. Lovely.
This was /not/ the way she wanted to end her friday.

Chase was straight up running. He raced through the halls, neck and neck with the clock. His professor has assigned him an extra essay in place of a detention, and he'd left the room without asking about the topic. The weekend was coming up, when he probably wouldn't see the teacher, and the essay was due on Monday. Great. He practically slid around the last corner, gave himself half a second the straighten his uniform and run a hand over his hair, then knocked on the transfiguration classroom door, opening in without waiting for an answer. "I'm sorry professor, but I forgot to..." He stopped mid-sentence as his eyes found Autumn, a fellow Ravenclaw seventh year, sitting in the classroom alone. It only took an additional moment for it to register that she was upset. "Shit. Tum, I'm sorry..." This couldn't have been more awkward. Recently Ace had noticed just how amazing this girl was... And it would appear, based on what her friends had mentioned to him, she though he was pretty great too. And now here he was, invading her space when she was clearly not having the best time. Shiiit. "I... Are you alright?" He decided he could deal with the initial awkwardness, and stay to talk. If she wanted.

Autumn was getting lost in her picture again, smiling slightly at her fathers face when someone burst into the room. She snapped her book shut and turned to face the door completely, about ready to tell someone off, when she noticed it was Chase. Her face softened as he noticed her face.
Wiping the tears from her cheek, she smiled and tried to make her voice sound cheery. "Hey Ace. Don't worry about it." she told him, but it seemed as though he didn't believe her. Shit. She sighed and looked down at her book. "Yeah. I suppose I'm ok. I mean, I've been better. But I'm not...horrible."

Ace grinned at her. "Don't worry, I do this all the time too... Shut myself in an empty classroom and let loose. Tell you the truth though.. Sometimes I'm dressed as a woman. You're lucky I only caught you looking at a book." He winked, lightening the mood noticeably. He dragged a desk next to hers, and gave her a one-armed hug. He didn't withdraw the arm when the hug ended. She smelled so familiar, and nice. Very nice. "So what were you looking at, anyway?"

Blinking a few times at what the boy had just said, Autumn wrapped her mind around it. Then, busted out laughing. "Oh yes. It's such a good thing. I'm a closet female hooker and I practice my moves in the tanks reflection all the time." she said through fits of laughter. She smiled when he hugged her, leaning against him and wrapping her arm around his back. She looked up at him (since Autumn was pretty short and she had to look up at most every guy) and sighed quietly. "Oh, just an old picture of my dad and I. When we were still close." she said, opening the book with one hand and lifting the picture out.

He couldn't help but smile, he liked how she felt this close to him, laughing. It was a nice picture, both father and daughter laughing, having fun. He didn't want to go soul-diving, and ask too many questions, so he just muttered a quick, "I'm sorry." How had be known her this long and never felt anything before? Even now, through his cool composure and steady heartbeat, his mind was racing, his senses working doubletime to take everything in. She was here, with him. Together. And it was.. nearly perfect.

Leaning her head against his shoulder, Autumn sighed quietly as he felt sorry for her. This is why she didn't like people knowing her secrets. This is why she kept to herself a good amount of time. "Yeah, me too." she sighed. The sigh was more than just because of her father. It was to deal with her and Chase, sitting here, this close. It was nice. Now if only she could get up the urge to tell him so.

When Autumn's head first landed on his shoulder, he tensed. Within milliseconds however, he relaxed. Maybe this was weird.. But it was what he wanted. He ran his hand up and down her arm, comfortingly. "You know, I..." He stopped, gave a little chuckle, and didn't continue. This wasn't the time or place. He needed to think first. He needed to figure his own shit out before he dragged her in. This was just way too sudden, and weird. As if someone else was willing this to happen, and the world was bending to their wishes. It wasn't like this was the first time this had happened before, Chase comforting Autumn. But now if felt somewhat different. She mentally shrugged off the thought, listening to Chase start talking, but stopped. Autumn picked her head up from his shoulder and looked at him, curiously. "What was that?" she asked, tilting her head sideways slightly. This wasn't like him to just start something and stop it. Well, it wasn't like any Ravenclaw to do that."

He smiled at her and shook his head, "Never mind." He hesitated a moment, then leaned over and kissed the top of her head. Harmless, really. He then stood, and shoved his hands in his pockets. "You, uh... Good to go?" Being in this classroom, so isolated, was weird. And way too personal. It was freaking him out. Hookups, he could handle. All this meaningful stuff? Scared him shitless. He might as well jump from the Ravenclaw tower. He could probably handle that with better grace.

Autumn pouted slightly as Chase didn't answer her, but she didn't push it. He was being so nice to her and not asking uncomfortable questions, so she wasn't going to ask. When he bent forward and kissed her forehead, she smiles and leaned into it, closing her eyes and taking in his smell. So comforting. But before she could get carried away, he pulled away and stood up, looking slightly awkward. Autumn blushed, realizing how stupid she must look right now. "Yeah, I think I'm fine. You're the antidote to my depressing night. Thank you." she said while standing up, walking over to the boy and kissing him on the cheek. She turned to walk out the door, hopefully not making the situation more awkward than it already was.

Okay, he'd jump off the Ravenclaw roof later, this was just too good. Autumn was here, and a kiss on the cheek was the perfect in. He grabbed her hand as she passed him, and tugged her back to him. He wasn't exactly the sappy type, so pulling her into a sturdy hug, slowly tipping her face up and kissing her wasn't his deal. Instead, he cut all crap and kissed her. One hand rested on her hip, one on the middle of her back. He kissed her with no lies, no gentle peck, no passionate tongue... Just a kiss. A real, honest, Chase Ryder kiss.

As Autumn made her way to the door, she felt her wrist being pulled back by Chase. This was definitely new for him. She flew back, looking up curiously at him, before he grabbed her face and kissed her. For one moment, her eyes were wide with disbelief. This can not be happening!! Then, she thought about it. Chase was kissing her, and this was what she wanted she thought and she was going to take advantage of it. Placing her hands on the back of his neck, she pulled Chase closer to her, closing her eyes and kissing him back deeply.

So he hadn't exactly bee expecting a slap. But not this, either. He pulled his hands away from her back, and placed them on her shoulders, slowly moving them apart, until they broke the kiss. Her face still showed a bit of disbelief. Ace kept his features under strict control as he licked his lips quickly, nodded his head and scratched his head. "Um.. Yeah. See you, then?" The he turned, shoving his hands back in his pockets, and left the room. What the hell was that?! he couldn't help but wonder. He'd hooked up with numerous girls, but it had never made him this... distracted? Was that the word he was looking for? No.. No, definitely not. Chase's brain was kicked in to overdrive as he quickly put distance between himself and the room. Perhaps 'fled the scene' is a better way of putting it.

There was a moment of bliss. Sheer bliss as Autumn and Chase kissed, but it was ended too quickly as Chase pushed Autumn away carefully. She wasn't exactly sure if she was rejected or not, but she was kind of hurt. She watched him, her hands behind her back, biting her lip as he looked even more perplexed than earlier. Then, he left after murmuring a goodbye. It wasn't even a goodbye, if she could understand that. Autumn stood there, looking out the door, confused. Did I...do something wrong? she questioned herself, trying to make her mind wrap around it all. This was just not going to happen like this. Running out of the room, she tried to figure out which way Ace went to stop him and demand an answer.
