"Aw, don't blush." Francesca said with a smile. "Wow. You know me too well. And..guess who..um..broke up with me?" She said, moving her eyes to look at the ceiling. Francesca just realize how uncomfortable it was talking about it. Probably because they were in a giant room filled with a lot of other people how had ears capable of hearing. She frowned at this thought, looking at Ethan. 'Hm. I want ice cream." She said with a shrug.

Sirius heard a voice and turned his head - at precisely the wrong moment, he realized, as a bright flash went off. He blinked a few times to get rid of the bright red dots now clouding his vision and his eyes focused on the girl responsible for said camera flash - Ara. He rolled his eyes as she spoke, although there was a small smile playing across his face. "Oh shove it, you. I'll have you know, I was asked by about six girls. I prefer to go stag to these things, don't you know? I mean really. When have I ever shown up to a dance with a date? Left with one, sure. But shown up? Pfft," he scoffed, grinning outright now, and his attention was once again diverted by a female voice. Nex, he thought? He wasn't quite sure. "Someone called Marlene?" he repeated with a snort of laughter. "You mean Mar? Haven't seen her yet, but she'd better show. She chickens out of this, I'll kill her." He was only half joking when he said that. Another person, however, was clearly absolutely joking - he was interrupted again, this time by boisterous laughter. He turned to Thalia with one eyebrow raised. "Have you noticed, Lia? I've got a crowd forming around me," he replied with a smirk. "I would hardly call this alone. I me-" Interrupted again, damn it. This time the voice belonged to Marlene. "Merlin, do I have to repeat everything seven times with you people?" he said, looking up at the enchanted ceiling with mock-grief on his face. "No, I do not have a date. Yes, it was by choice. Yes, I received many offers. Are you all satisfied?"
{{ Kind of an... all-in-one post. /fails Sorry I missed like... 10 people talking to Sirius at once xPP }}

No way. Could he do the eyebrow thing? God dammit, everyone could do the eyebrow thing! That special feeling that came from the capability to do the eyebrow thing vanished. Stupid Sirius. It was all his fault.
'See, I don't call that a crowd. I think that's more of a sort of Ara and Nex semi circle.'
Where had Cess buggered off to? She didn't look happy. Wasn't she with that Connor...Something? So why hadn't they come together? Eh well. It was none of her business.
Holy crap. Did she just think that? What was wrong with her? She blamed the shoes. Heels were the source of all evil.

Gideon was really resisting the urge to start beating the crap out of Fabian right here and there. The only thing stopping him was not the threat of the teachers hanging around the area, yet the fact that Marlene would proceed to kill him instead. Gideon'd already narrowly escaped death by her hands once this evening- he didn't need to go through it again. Instead he just glared at Fabian. " For the last time- I didn't kill you goddamn owl. It was probably so ashamed of being named 'Inkwell' that it comitted owl suicide." Was that even possible? Well, it was now.
Phil grinned. " Didn't Damocles hide those under his bed, thinking that no one would notice? Anyway, Gideon has too much self esteem for his own good--" "And betting on me probably improves their own self esteem." Gideon interrupted. Gideon and Phil then gave each other reasons for why the other should go get the dress-robes and Damocles down here. In the end Phil won by saying that if Gideon went, he wouldn't be around for Marlene to kill and for Fabian to make a fool of. Gideon pretty much left the great hall running.
((ooc//I did promise that Gideon would drag poor Dammy down there in jeans, didn't I? 8D))
---
Ara laughed. "Okay- point taken. But still... only six girls, Sirius? It really does sound like you're losing your touch. Anyway- of course we're not satisfied. We haven't annoyed you enough yet!" She paused for a moment, glancing round the great hall. She'd been here five minutes and already the music was starting to give her a headache. " So, where are the rest of the marauders tonight?"
Ara grinned, turning to face Thalia. "Well they always say that three's a crowd, don't they? And I guess it's now an Ara, Nex and Thalia semi-circle. That has a good ring to it, doesn't it?"

Damcoles, meanwhile, was feeling rather proud of himself. He still hadn't been found out.
Oh no. The sleeve of that horrid robe of Doom and Destruction was poking out from beneath his bed. Pushing it farther under, with the face of someone who was dissecting a rabid koala, he muttered to himself about stupid parents and their ideas of nice.
~
"Really? Too much self-esteem? ...Now that you mention it, I see it. Just the way he pronounces his T's and holds himself just that bit straighter than you. No offense! You were just the first person who came to mind at that precise moment. Umm..." She trailed off.
Well, that went well. Wasn't she lovely?

Chase grinned and shrugged, "Yeah, you caught me... I was peeking. You look good, anyway." He gave her a wink, and loosely wrapped his arm around her shoulder, pulling her in close to whisper again, "Had anything to drink, yet?" He knew he was looking forward to having a little. Maybe a little more than a little. He'd have to be careful though, drinking while with a date was different than drinking at a party. If he let her drink too much, it'd look very, very bad. He was good at being careful with women. This should be a pinch.

"Same for you." Blair said back, smiling. "Nope." She replied, continuing to smile. Sure, she did drink, but drinking way to much just wasn't her. Like one or two drinks was her thing, not a whole pack of drinks. That really wouldn't be good. And if she got really drunk later, she would get mad at herself for getting really drunk in the first place. Using her hand to once more smooth out her dress, she concentrated on the music. Eh, it was slow, rather extremely slow.

Ashton knew he was quite quiet, except at parties, not balls. "Ravenclaw, you?" He said, starting to get rather bored. Looking around, he saw Gideon and Fabian, and the other people. Ew, then the potions essay thought came back to him. He needed to get that finished. Now he probably looked like an idiot to Bailey, just standing there.

Bailey nodded and replied, "Same," She wasn't surprised that he didn't know her. She didn't know anyone besides Ryan who would want to make friends with her. She got up from her chair, took her camera and wand in her hand and was about to say, 'Well, I've had enough of this stupid ball,' and leave, when the music changed to faster and a picture came out of her camera. "Ew," she said, looking at it. It was Sirius Black. She did not like that guy. He was so full of himself and hit on a different girl every other week, if not day.

"What do you say we dance?" He asked, smiling across the room at the sight of Marlene... being Marlene. The song was slow and light, something easy to start with. He took his arm away from around her shoulders, and held it out in front of her, palm up.

Sirius rolled his eyes at Thalia. Okay, so maybe it wasn't a /crowd/, but still. He turned his attention back to Ara as she spoke, and shook his head slowly - he just couldn't get a break with these girls, could he? "I'm starting to think you lot will /never/ be satisfied," he said almost sadly. "And I know there were at least twenty others who /wanted/ to ask me, but were too afraid I'd turn them down and/or hate them, so you know," here he paused and shrugged. "James is up in our dorm /sulking/,' he continued irritably. "Evans has turned him down again. Peter is up consoling him, I expect. I haven't a clue as to where Remus scurried off to, though."

Marlene heard her name yelled. Andddddd something else that the whole Great Hall did not really need to know. She shot Fabien a dirty look. Idiot. She was about to walk over to him and Gideon, but they spoke for a moment and then left. Probably to go murder each other or something. She hesitated, but then decided to leave them be. They'd be back soon enough. She turned back to Sirus and grinned. "Or maybe," She teased, throwing an arm around him and resting her head on his shoulder, "none of those 20 girls were the one you wanted to ask you?" She couldn't help but add, her tone implying that she knew something. "I still don't know what's going on between you and said person, by the way."
Soooo, Ally'd gotten sidetracked. She'd fallen asleep. Which was sort of a good thing, because she'd been wayyyy behind on sleep lately. She woke up to find the dorm room deserted. "Damn." she muttered, after she'd put on her dress and was now running a brush through her dark curls. She hauled on her light purple high tops and darted downstairs. She'd chosen the high tops for obvious reasons. Kill herself in shoes that were uncomfortable - Or wear her trustworthy sneakers. Hmmm. What would you pick? She entered the Great Hall and looked around. No, she didn't have a date. She didn't really care, anyway. She'd probably only just talk to her friends here, anyway.

Sirius glanced at Marlene as she casually threw an arm around his neck. He raised an eyebrow as she spoke, looking a little confused. "Pfft, I have no idea what you're on abo-" he broke off suddenly, his eyes widening a bit. "A... Bout... Sorry, girls," he said, recovering swiftly as he looked at Thalia and Ara again. "I'm going to have to steal Marlene for a second. We'll be right back." With that he pulled away from her side-hug, grabbed her arm, and led her away from the group to a secluded corner. "What do you know, Marlene?" he demanded in a low voice.

Autumn was already late. Very late. And she was just standing before the great hall doors, slightly afraid to walk in. She should've been there earlier, and if not, she should've walked in with a large group of people.
It was already bad enough that she was late, but that she was late, and her date, Javon, was later than her!! Completely forgetting the fact that he was a fourth year and people would probably laugh at her. She didn't care about that. Javon was pretty great, and she wanted to go with him. But..GAH! Not an amazing way to start the ball.
Autumn took a few deep breathes, making sure her hair was good, no stains on her dress, and walked into the hall. She was looking straight forward, not making eye contact with anyone, and walked over to the refreshments table (hopefully before anyone spiked the drink) and grabbed some of whatever they were serving.
Merlin, where is Javon?! she inwardly cursed, glancing over her shoulder stealthfully to see if she could find the fourth year Slytherin. But no, no one in sight. Autumn sighed and walked over to a table, drinking slowly and watching everyone before her eyes.

Ooof. Now he was leading her somewhere. Maybe she shouldn't have brought it up. Damn. Now he was questioning her. Marlene mentally snorted. What did she know? Well, Ethan had told her that he fancied Sirius. And she knew Sirius well enough to see that he maybe sort of felt the same way. Plus she'd seen them snogging in sixth year. Of course, they'd both been drunk, but still. You think they'd be able to find a better spot to snog then the middle of the Gryffindor common room. And anyone with eyes could see that Sirius and Ethan had been avoiding each other. Soooo....She smiled innocently. "What do I know about what?" She lied. She was a pretty good liar, but Sirius knew her pretty well. He might be able to tell the difference. "I just assumed that maybe the right person hadn't asked you, so you'd turned down everyone else." She shrugged. "That's all."
