Eugh. How many times did she have to complain? She hated these things. So much. She hated dresses, high heels, messing with your hair.... Though hopefully, it wouldn't be so bad. She was with Phil.
That was, if he showed up. She sighed. If he wasn't so painfully shy when he came to these things, she wouldn't have had only a few hours to figure out what to wear. She ended up borrowing her dorm-mates dress...What was her name? Leanne? Eh well.
She leaned against a wall, waiting. Knowing her luck, he'd be 'sick' like Damocles, and she'd be a loner. Oh yay, she could be one of those people.

Okay. He would not screw up. He would not screw up. He would not screw up.
Phil had never seen the point of these things. They just seemed to be a way of showing off for people who could easily manage to get dates, yet humiliation and torture for everyone else. Well Phil had managed to get a date- yet the asking part was still torture. No more and no less than four attempts at asking Thalia to the ball. Luckily it wasn't four attempts ruined by his screw ups , interruptions by friends happened a lot. Eventually Gideon yelled at her to go with Phil across the great hall. He thought he'd been helping. Ha Ha Ha. Gideon never helped, he just got in the way and liked to think that he was helping. Either way, asking Thalia was easier after that.
Getting ready took longer than it should, thanks to Gideon and Chase having a fight and making half the room inaccesable. Plus pictures had to be taken of that for future blackmail. His friends had happily ignored Phil's objections of how he was going to be late and had roped him into coming up with a plan for them to drag Damocles to the ball. Damocles, of course, knew nothing about this. It was probably a lot for the better this way.
With a quick glance at his relfection in a window, Phil saw Thalia leaning against a wall. He smiled, leaning on it next to her. He enjoyed the fact that she hadn't noticed him yet. "I'm sorry - did I keep you waiting long?" he asked casually, offering her the apricot coloured rose that he'd been holding. Apparently this meant enthusiasm and desire- Gideon had told him last minute. How or why Gideon knew the meanings of flowers- Phil didn't want to know. Phil just thought that this flower was beautiful and therefore seemed fitting for Thalia.
He would not screw up.

Thalia was about to give up. Eh well - Surely Slughorn would be nice eno- No. Never. Never ever ever.
And then, there was a voice very near her ear. She squeaked and jumped, falling onto a nearby bench.
"God dammit! Don't. Do. That!" She growled, smoothing out the borrowed dress. Wait. A...flower? Ooh. She felt special. Seriously.
She took it gingerly. "Thanks," she murmured. "Well come on then!" She said, taking his hand and half dragging him into the Hall.

Nex's dress was one she had made herself, using her mother's old dresses (to the dismay of said parent) and a bit of sewing know-how. Sure she could have bought one, but she preferred to have things perfectly how thought in her head. Besides it was long enough for her to be happy and short enough that she wasn't tripping over herself.
Heels adding a couple extra inches to her height and hair a black colour with golden tips decorated with random flower-like accessories, she looked into the mirror before exiting to common room and towards the hall. A small smile on her face, she was happy with how she looked and felt pretty but still unique, if other people didn't agree well who cared?
Nex entered the hall, an assortment of dresses and suits were viewable in a spectrum of colours, everyone looked stunning. Grey eyes scanned for someone she knew, spotting Thalia and Phil she attempted to run over. Attempted because Nex had never mastered the art of running in heels (she didn't feel the need to wear them all the time) she ended up looking rather like a new born calf and eventually slowing into a more graceful walk.
She had to be calmer with her greetings now and that annoyed her a bit, how could you make an entrance walking daintily in heels towards someone? After what seemed a life time to Nex - her mind runs as fast as she does- she eventually got to Thalia "Hey! How's everything" she smiled, feeling rather disappointed that she was unable to tackle dear Phil in the usual manner “Hey fluffle!” she smiled at Phil “You two are together right? For the ball I mean?” Nex was sure she had asked that before but couldn’t recall the answer. Nex was going with Fabian and she was sure that would bring utter doom to everyone, the thought of this brought a huge smile to her face “Is Gidi gonna be here?”She asked nonchalantly whilst looking for Fabian
“You seen Fab?” she enquired again, “Or shall I leave you two to get to know each other better?” she teased sticking her tongue out sure either one of them would glare, grin like a goof (Phil most likely) or just tell her to bugger off.

Smoothing out the plaid shirt with a smile, he pulled on the vans. Oh, this was going to be fun. Holding his wand contently, he walked out of the dorm, heading to the Great Hall. Chances were, Fabian wasn't going to dance. At all. Finally walking into the Great Hall, he looked around. It was pretty cool. Running a hand through his hair, he looked around. Looking for Nex, he found her.
Smirking he walked up,"Hello. Ready?". He looked at the people, smiling. Oh, this was going to be fun.

Bailey looked around as she stepped out of the portrait hole of her common room. It seemed like the whole school was going to be attending this ball. She sighed, made sure nobody was looking, and pulled the top of her dress up. It was too low, well for her. She didn’t like dressing in clothes that were too revealing. It was sick. Some groups of girls walked pass her, glancing at her shoes and left with a smirk. Bailey managed a weak smile and walked down onto a moving staircase that would take her to the ground floor. She was used to getting looks and comments about how she dressed and acted. She shrugged it off like always.
Taking a deep breath, Bailey walked into the Great Hall. It was packed with people, which gave her stomach a queasy feeling. It was either that she was nervous or had claustrophobia. Bailey clutched her bulky camera close to her and walked towards an empty table in a quieter corner. She both hated and loved this camera. She loved it for how when she took a picture, it came out immediately, but she hated how chunky it was. After a couple of songs, Bailey tried to decide what to do if nobody came and gave her company. She could go to the forest and look for Ryan, since she didn’t see him here, or she could go bother Moaning Myrtle, or she could plan something with Peeves, or get some food in the kitchens, or hang out with Connor and Jordan. She heard that Connor broke up with Francesca, so he’d probably be alone. Really, the list went on for Bailey. She was use to being alone.

... Well Phil wasn't expecting her to bloody well fall over. Either way, he couldn't help but let out a very small chuckle. "I'm sorry. Are you okay?" He soon assumed that Thalia was okay as she pretty much dragged him into the great hall. It was probably the only time in Phil's life that Nex was incapable of tackling him. He made a note to savour the moment- tomorrow she'd probably get him even worse. That was, of course, presuming that they were both still alive. Sadly nothing could stop Nex from calling him Fluffle. Phil didn't mind as much as when she had first started calling him it - the name had stuck. And somehow sadly spread to Marlene. Any day now, Phil expected Gideon and Fabian to start it too.
Phil smiled, before quicjly surveying the room for any sign of the two Prewetts."Well Fabian's here now and Gideon's.... running over like an idiot." He paused for a moment, deep in thought before turning to Fabian. "A Galleon says that Marlene doesn't kill him after all."
---
After that 'minor setback', Gideon had finally made it to the great hall. Just ten minutes after he said he'd meet Marlene. Ah well- maybe Chase would be able to talk her out of killing him. If not- he'd better be crying the most at Gideon's funeral.
Looking around, he couldn't see Marlene. Instead however, Gideon saw a most curious sight. Pushing through a crowd of hyper sixth year Hufflepuff girls, Gideon finally made it to the group of Thalia, Nex, Phil and of course, Fabian. "Dude. This is a ball. We wear formal clothes here!" He said with a grin, using the same tone of voice he used when explaining something to his five year old Nephew, Charlie. "Please tell me I don't have to explain to you what formal clothes are too." He paused for a moment to catch his breath. "Have any of you seen Marlene at all? Maybe with a knife or deranged house elf?"

Nex heard Fabian behind her “Of course” she smirked as Gideon ran over, he actually had asked a good question there... where was Marl? “You didn’t call her a homicidal midget again?” if he was expecting knifes or deranged house elf’s she knew that was normally the number on reason for it. She also watched with vague interest as Gidi mocked his brother and presumed it most likely revenge for the teddy bear comment in the transfiguration comment before. However her interest wasn’t kept for very long, she seemed to have a shorter attention span than normal today and spent the next few seconds listening to the lyrics of whatever music was playing at the time.

"Ten galleons say that he gets a lecture, yell or killed." Fabian said to Phil with a smile. Fabian probably wouldn't call him Fluffle or whatever. That was a weird name. Where did he even get it from? "Oh Gidibear! I do know what formal clothes are. But, I'm just wondering, aren't you suppose to be wearing a dress?" He said softly, cocking his head, putting on a serious tone and face. He frowned, looking at Gideon's suit,"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Muriel make that for you again?".
Francesca pulled on the flats, then rushed out of the common room, and to the Great Hall. Walking, realizing she left her wand in her dorm. Eh, she didn't need it anyway. Entering the Great Hall, she looked at her dress quickly and looked around. Spotting a group she very vaguely knew, she walked up. Oh, she knew Phil. And Thalia. And somewhat Nex. "Hey." She said with a smile.

“Did you get a date?” Connor asked Jordan, suddenly. He had completely forgotten about that part of the ball. Especially after breaking up with Francesca. He wouldn’t have to worry about that if he hadn’t. And Connor was curious, now. Jordan was acting unlike himself, checking the mirror frequently, so he expected a yes from his friend. “No. Didn’t ask anyone,” Jordan replied as they entered the Great Hall. Jordan was about to ask Connor the same, but then realized that he wasn’t with Francesca anymore. And of course he knew the reason. They were best mates. Connor shoved his hands into his pockets and walked with Jordan to a table near the entrance. Connor tried not to laugh, as Jordan looked at almost every girl, hopeful. This was not the Jordan he knew. Maybe it was because they never attended a ball before? Who knew? Connor just leaned back in his chair. He had too much practice to be afraid of falling, but that reminded him of how he met Francesca, so he made all four legs of the chair touch the ground again.

Ashton sighed, he wanted to finish the potions essay. But of course, it was the ball today. He would forget about the essay and have fun. Cool. Yeah, that worked. Checking his suit, he smiled. Heading out of the dorm hurriedly, heading to the great hall. Finally getting there, he looked around. Hot girl. Ooh, another hot girl. She was Bailey, right? Walking up to her, he smiled. "Bailey, yes?" He asked with a smile.
Blair walked in, her curls were actually being normal for once. Not poofy, big or weird. Now, where was Chase? Looking down at her dress, she smiled. She liked it, she walked over to a wall, leaning on it contently. Blair had remembered his face, he was hot. She could probably find him again.

Bailey set her camera on the table in front of her and right as she was about to cross her legs and rest them up on the table, some boy came up to her. She mentally smirked. Nobody ever remembers her name. They just refer to her as the pregnant girl or don’t even acknowledge her. She studied the boy’s face for a second. He looked like one of Jordan’s friends. That was all she could get. Not even his house. She nodded at the kid and said, “Yup. Bailey,” She was about to say, “And you are…? Well, whoever you are, don’t ask me to dance because I’m not going to,” but advised herself to be nice and see how that change goes. People usually say that it’s better, but she’ll believe it if she’s experienced it. At least there was someone to talk to. Now she could stop continuing with the list.

Ashton nodded,"I'm Ashton Abercrombie.". He didn't recognize her at all, really. He didn't know her as the pregnant girl. None. But that was probably because he was a typical Ravenclaw, not really paying attention to things, either eating, sleeping or doing something that involves him working on homework. Looking around with a smile, he looked at her,"Want to dance?". He wasn't an amazing dancer, but he was fairly good. His eyes moved to Francesca randomly, who has with a group. Eh, he barely knew her. But Chase knew her, right? Then looking back to Bailey with a smile.

Bailey couldn't help but smile. She knew that he would ask. Typical. Why else would I guy that she didn't know come up to her during a ball? To chat or plan a joke? She wished. She wondered how he knew that she was Bailey and not her twin. Perhaps he was good friends with her twin or knew if she had a date. As much as Bailey wanted to plainly tell Ashton, "No,", she simply said, "To be honest, I'm not a big fan of this music and I can't formal dance for my life," she said before adding, "otherwise I would," and wondered if that last bit was the truth or not. Bailey has seen many formal dances before, but it wasn't like she bloody studied their steps. She half expected Ashton to leave her, then, or tell her, "Never mind that, I'll teach you,". She didn't even know which she preferred.
Connor looked up as Blair, one of his housemates, entered the ball. She seemed to be looking around for someone. No, he didn't get up from his seat to ask, but he sat there and called out, "Blair, looking for someone?" Jordan shook his head at Connor's laziness, but couldn't help laughing.

Ashton nodded, okay, she rejected him. He figured, he really never asked people out, so he was probably bad at it. Or maybe she just didn't want to dance. Either way, he could live with it. "Surprised Gideon Prewett wasn't killed yet." He said, smiling at her. He was actually surprised that Marlene hadn't killed him for fighting. Wait, did she even know?
Blair turned around as she heard someone call her name, Connor. She smiled, walking over to him. "Chase? Ravenclaw, I believe?" She said with a shrug. Maybe she did forget his face..okay. Not good.
