Full Name:
Alice Cypriana Somerset
Nickname(s):
Isn't her name short enough?
Canon or OC?
Made-up! <3
Age:
Seventeen.
Birth date:
Alice's birthday falls on April 2nd and she finds it very annoying that she just missed April Fool's Day.
Year:
Seventh.
House:
Ravenclaw.
Heritage:
Her mother is British and her father has distant Turkish roots.
You Follow:
She likes to support the Order but isn't actually a part of it.
Blood:
Half-blood, her father is a muggle, her mother a witch.
Wand:
Because her birthday falls between March 18th and April 14th, Alice has an Alder wand. The Alder is known as the tree of fire. It deals with inner strength, confidence, and awareness. It's about 14 inches in length and has a dragon heart-string core.
Broom:
Alice flies the newest model available because she managed to guilt her parents into buying it for her. Even after all that she spent on it, she uses it more for recreational flying than for Quidditch.
Pet:
Ringo is her lovely little black and white rat, named after the Beatles drummer, of course. She's had her since her third year, when she made the mistake of not realizing that it was a girl and gave her a boy's name.
Play-By:
Zooey Deschanel.

Likes:
building elaborate pillow forts in her dorm, the Beatles, consuming unnecessary amounts of cough drops, being with the people who make her smile, avoiding responsibility, utilizing her powers of persuasion, being right, awarding people with Alice Points for making her tea, swimming, refreshingly cold water, stormy weather, picnics in the shade, the Forbidden Forest, throwing Beatles parties in the Room of Requirements, staying up too late for her own good, winter, snow, snowball fights, knitting hats, writing spontaneous love letters that include doodles, picking flowers, coffee with so much creme that it can barely be considered coffee, badminton, ABUSING CAPITAL LETTERS OMG SO FUN, enthusiastic people, Remus Lupin.
Dislikes:
large cats, when Professor McGonagall transfigures into a cat, obscenely hot weather, waking up early, the feeling you get when you wake up and realize you're late, the smell of burnt toast, writing ridiculously long essays that she can't fill with enough information and ends up rambling about irrelevant things.
Amortentia:
Alice's amortentia smells of three things that she wishes gave a little more insight into her life, but don't. The first smell she encounters when taking a whiff of the potion is pineapple because she has an affinity for pina coladas and most fruits. Making pina coladas and adorning them with pineapple slices and miniature paper umbrellas and swords is something she has gained notoriety for in most houses. The second smell is the smell of her pillow, which smells of cotton and the hair products she uses. She thinks this is probably because of all the time she spends sleeping or on her bed with the canopy drawn around it. The third smell is chlorine. When Alice was younger she was very fond of swimming and the pool was one of the few places she could go to and escape her parents' constant attention. Her love for swimming is something she carried into her teenage life.
Boggart:
Alice's biggest fear is something that a boggart would have difficulty depicting. Even from a young age, the one thing that she avoided was commitment and responsibility. Her parents made most of her decisions for her and as a result she is incapable of making them herself, even after she severed her contact with them. And since the boggart can't manifest itself into something intangible, it instead takes the form of a large, roaring lion with blood dripping from it's gaping jaws.
Patronus:
Alice has a love for swimming and most aquatic animals, having spent most of her childhood in the water. Her patronus takes the form of a flying fish. It represents her desire for freedom and how uninhibited she aspires to be.
Strengths:
What ISN'T Alice good at? Well, a lot of things, but... Alice excels at providing people with a good laugh or lifting their mood when they need it. She's been blessed with a generally sunny disposition and uses it to the best of her advantage, which means that she is a consistently excitable presence. In terms of academics, she's best at subjects that leave room for innovation, such as divination and potions. Another thing she prides herself on is her good memory, which comes in handy when she needs to remember song lyrics.
Weaknesses:
When it comes down it, the biggest thing that weighs Alice down is her indecisiveness. It's a tough thing to deal with, since she has to make decisions in all aspects of her life. Also unquestionably one of the biggest procrastinators at Hogwarts, she nearly never does her homework until the last minute and her grade suffers as a result. Not only is she academically inept, but it finds it's way into her social life, too. Alice exceeds at saying the wrong things at the wrong time, which results in a lot of awkward silences and awkward situations.
She also can't sing, but don't think that stops her. ;D
Personality:
Intelligent; Alice isn't really what you'd expect to find in your typical Ravenclaw. She's clearly smart, considering what house she was sorted into, but she doesn't use her intelligence to her advantage. If something calls for a witty retort or snarky comment, however, that's a different story. Her lack of interest in classes is what results in less than satisfactory grades, but she likes to complain that they're not a good representation of what she's capable of.
Spontaneous; One outstanding characteristic that she takes pride in, despite how often it leads her into treacherous situations, is her impulsiveness. While most people test the waters first, Alice prefers to leap right in, abandoning all caution. Spontaneity is a lifestyle that completely suits Alice, despite the many consequences that branch from speaking and doing before thinking. She holds firmly to the belief that an hour of detention is a fair trade for a day of fun. Although a curious and energetic individual, always delving into new areas and experiences, Alice often becomes quickly bored and moves on, leaving everything unfinished in her wake.
Resilient; Alice also possesses a remarkable amount of emotional and psychological resilience that goes hand-in-hand with her optimism. She is stubborn and generally refuses to accept defeat, even long after a situation has become untenable. She rarely stays down for long though, as she naturally bounces back quickly from misfortune and strife.

Hair:
Her hair is a brown so dark that it's almost black. She often just lets it hang around her shoulders in loose waves, a set of bangs grazing her eyes. If you ever find her tugging and twisting her fringe into a braid, you can be sure that she's either dreading something or faced with a predicament. Concealing an embarrassed blush or mischievous smile is also easy when you have a curtain of hair to hide behind, her reason for keeping it long.
Eyes:
Considered an open book by many, Alice's thoughts and emotions are always painted clearly across her face. Her large, expressive eyes, set in a pale, oval face, are considered to be her main asset despite how often they betray her thoughts and emotions. Although airy and blue a majority of the time, they darken to a cloudy gray when she's feeling particularly sad. And thanks to many a sleepless night, they are nearly always rimmed with faint purple shadows.
Complexion:
Thanks to Alice's aversion to the sun, she has a very pale complexion with a scattering of freckles across the bridge of her nose and cheeks. Thankfully for her, they're only very prominent in the summertime. Just like every other teenager, she suffers from the occasional pimple, but has the advantage of magic when it comes to covering it up.
Height:
She stands at 5 feet and 7 inches.
Weight:
She weighs in at 120 pounds.
Build:
Unsurprisingly, Alice's body isn't very muscular since she doesn't partake in any sport other than Quidditch. She likes to think of herself as the average girl when it comes to her body. Although she has a tendency to eat unhealthy food, she's usually very busy and doesn't really have time to sit down for a meal, which balances things out.
Unique Features:
One distinguishing feature about Alice is her clothing style, which is often a reflection of her mood that day. And since she likes to portray herself as a generally happy person, you’ll be seeing a lot of festive colors. She tends to dress in fun, flouncy skirts and is very fond of eccentric colors and prints. Most of the time she’s just wearing her school uniform, spruced up with a few odd accessories. One thing that she is never seen without is her pair of white Beatles boots and a collection of frayed string bracelets on her wrist.

Family:
Mother: Alaine Fleming-Somerset
Father: Gerry Somerset
Brothers: None
Sisters: None
History:
Alice was born and raised in the town of Leicester, England, as an only child. Her parents, Alaine and Gerry Somerset, spent money on her just as easily as they earned it and she devoted the first 12 years of her life to pleasing them. Having been enrolled in a muggle school, she achieved grades that any parent could be proud of and acted like the daughter of a respectable family. Brought up in a strict household, the best was expected from Alice, and she never questioned what her parents told her.
When she received her Hogwarts letter, her mother was ecstatic. Throughout her youth Alice had never shown any signs of magical ability, and Alaine, having always been paranoid, feared the worst. Her father, Gerry, although a muggle, knew of Alaine's heritage and readily agreed to have Alice educated at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. They would later look upon this decision as one of the greatest mistakes they'd ever made in regard to their daughter.
As a First Year, Alice was welcomed into Ravenclaw just as every intellectual little bookworm was. She had very few friends and as far as everyone else was concerned, she was just another face in the crowd. In her Third Year she had entered what her parents considered the "rebellious phase". Alice had gotten acquainted with a few people that were considered by many to be bad influences. Needles to say, their attitudes quickly rubbed off on her and she became the Alice that you know and love today. She still went by the rules, but they were a new set. Realizing that there was more to life than just preparing for the future, Alice adopted an entirely new outlook on life.
Her family was distraught, of course, and did anything and everything they could to straighten her out. She is still expected back at home every summer and winter holiday, which is when her parents try to turn her into a respectable young lady.

Destination, determination, deliberation.
A sharp pop was the only thing that punctured the silence blanketed over the Hogwarts grounds, resounding in the still air for a fraction of a second before fading back into the ominous quiet.
The forest floor was littered with a carpet of dry leaves, stirred from their quiet slumber by the constant whispers of wind. Every breath of air carried with it a distant memory of Hogwarts and the people she had met here. The tall, gnarled trees that she had grown so familiar with during her school days stretched their limbs to a dark blue sky, grazing the heavy clouds that hung there. Streams of silver moonlight filtered through the leafy canopy, dancing across the ground and illuminating a slender figure that shuddered despite the warmth that clung to her skin. The beams of light that were scattered across her face revealed the age that lined her expression, dark circles under her eyes more prominent than ever against her pale skin. The doubt that tugged her lips into a worried frown didn't suit her.
Alice Somerset could feel the coil of excitement that had nestled in the pit of her stomach unraveling. Releasing her tension with a deep sigh, she reached her hand into her back pocket and withdrew her wand, still reveling and reminiscing in the thought of being on school grounds again. Her eyes flickered around, gaze finally settling on the contour of the castle towering over the treetops. In the corner of her mind, she could vaguely recall where the Ravenclaw tower was located- the very place she had spent the majority of her childhood. With a saunter, she advanced forward, some cheerfulness returning to her step and sparking in her eyes.

"What came first, the chicken or the egg?"
Alice had to suppress a giggle and the temptation to ask the wall whether it was referring to purple chickens.
"A question with no answer, riiight...?"
She hesitated as the wall stretched open, peering into the dim light of the Ravenclaw common room before clambering inside. The sudden transition from warm to cold resulted in a shiver rippling along her spine. Alice surveyed the room, biting at her bottom lip anxiously. It hadn't changed much at all, but she had yet to find out if this was because she had somehow managed to venture back into the past.
Her eyes traveled along the wall, finding the staircase in the flickering firelight. She stumbled toward it, taking the stairs two at a time. Her stomach lurched as she tripped into the room, finding the window instantly. Tentatively, she approached it and pushed it open.
A smile of recognition lit up her face as she struggled to pull herself onto the roof.
"Vinny!" she cried, her loud exclamation snatched away by the wind just as soon as she uttered his name. She returned his hug by attempting to fling her arms around his tall frame before pulling away to scrutinize him from head to toe. Vinny was exactly the way she remembered him. Exactly like the memory she had carefully etched into the back of her mind, with the exception of the gray pallor he had acquired later in life after so many years of smoking. She breathed a sigh of relief that their experiment had worked, a broad smile still plastered onto her face.
