Well, Autumn was ready. Autumn was scared, but ready. Her dress looked perfect, makeup was pretty good, hair was behaving itself, and her mask had just turned black.
'I wonder who my date is?' she thought was she made her way down to the Great Hall. She was supposed to meet him at the entrance, and he would have a black mask as well. It might be Sirius. Ooh, the dance with Sirius would be fun. Or it could be...well...someone else. Who knew.
It only took a minute or two before she was finally at the entrance, and there were a few other people there. None with black masks, though.
So Autumn stood next to the wall, her dress exposeing a leg, and she waiting.

The ball hadn't even started yet and already Phil wanted to leave. It wasn't that he didn't like balls, oh no. More to the point, he had a potions essay due in for first thing in the morning that he had yet to even start, and Phil was also one of those people that firmly believed that if something started off crapily, it would carry on and end the same way. To explain this more, we must go back a few steps.
Being Phil, he had, of course, forgotten completely about the ball until this morning. Then he had lost his mask, which took about two hours to find, as Gideon had come into the dorm and decided to 'help' him look for it. Gideon's idea of help was to get in the way and make a mess of things. Once the mask was found wedged between Ashton's trunk and a pile of Damocles' books (No, Phil truly has no idea how it got there), it was time for lunch. And then homework. By the time everyone returned to the dorm, the mask had been lost again. And then after it had once again been found, it had turned black. To which Phil had assumed that he'd broken the damn thing.
Eventually, he had managed to make it down to the great hall in one peice with the mask, which wasn't broken after all, apparently. The one problem with everyone wearing masks was that Phil had no idea who the hell anyone was, and therefore couldn't locate any of his friends. Yet that was the general point, annoying as it is. Luckily the black mask stood out more than the others, and Phil easily found his partner. As much as he believed in the bad start theory, he should at least make the most of the evening. "You look great... Autumn."

Autumns eyes glanced around the entrance, looking around for who the "lucky" boy would be for her date. Actually, she had waited so long, that she was starting to think that maybe her date decided to forget about the ball, and let her stand her like an idiot in a red dress. Sirius would SOOO do something like that.
She decided one last scan of the area, and then she would leave if he wasn't there. Her eyes wandered from one mask to another, to another, to another, until she saw it. Well, first she saw his hair, then the mask, and in an instant, she knew who she was with. The realization though, made her heart sing and cry at the same time. Phil.
"Well thank you kind sir." she said, smirking slightly. She wondered what made him realize it was her. "Are you ready for the ball?" she asked, holding out her hand delicately.

“Red, the colour of anger...passion...lust and love” Nex mused as she had watched her mask turn a pretty shade of crimson in the days nearing the Halloween ball “I wonder if it’s a sign” she jokingly had laughed to herself. The Gryffindor had chosen white for her dress and this time around chosen a pair of heeled boots she could move easily in. Walking the last time had bored her far too much and she vowed to never let it happen again. After what seemed like hours of idle gossip and chatter with the other Gryffie girls Nex was finally ready and adding the final touch to her clothing -the mask- before setting off and yelling back to the others “Time to find this crimson crusader I’m supposed to be with!” Her heels clonked noisily and heavily against the stair case down to the hall as the sound of the blaring music became louder and louder with each step.
“Another great Hogwarts ball I see” she grinned nearing the entrance to the great hall. She looked around the entrance at the people walking in searching for a red mask “He mustn’t be here yet I suppose” she mused leaning against the nearby wall and absently glancing at her short nails. She couldn’t help but think to herself that Balls normally were rather dull, the romantic atmosphere that was supposed to be abound in the stereotypical idea of a ball never seemed to happen, either that or Nex just wasn’t a romantic person at heart.
“Might as well see if I can recognise anyone” she looked around at everyone, this was another thing she disliked, being without her friends to joke and hang out with when thing became dull as they normally seemed doomed to.

Phil grinned, grateful that he had guessed correctly in his partner being Autumn and not some other random girl that just so happened to look like her this evening. That would have certainly been embarassing. Either way, he at least knew that there was a high possibility of Phil having a pretty damn good time tonight. "It's quite alright, fair lady," Phil replied with a grin, "Have you been waiting long?"
"Of course I'm not ready," he said, accepting her hand, "since when have I ever been ready for anything?" Even Phil had to say that that was a pretty damn good question. "So what about you? Are you ready?"

Gently slipping her arm through the arm hole, Francesca looked in the mirror at her appearance. The make up was already on, as she had used magic to put it on. Examining her bangs to make sure they were at least close to being straight. Smiling as they were, she placed her feet into the heels that boosted her up a few good inches. Francesca did wonder who her partner was, and if they would be decent.
Pressing the mask with slight pressure on her face, Francesca headed out the door towards the Great Hall. Taking the mask off to look at it, it was already turning green. Okay, she had green. Placing the mask back on, Francesca got to the Great Hall, walking in curiously. Now to find her partner.

"No, not long. Only a few minutes. Of course, being oogled by some of the younger boys at my...well..." she coughed, joking of course. "Well endowdness does give one the sense of a long time."
A small laugh escaped the girls lips as she listened to her best friend. "That's a very good question, sir. I'd have to say...hmmm...well, never." she said with a giggle, hugging the boy. She was rather grateful she got Phil instead of some random person that might end this dance in termoil.
Autumn pondered the boys next question. Was she really ready? Ready for a night of frolicking in a mask, pretending to not know who the other person was? That, she was ready for. Or, was she ready for a night of innermost conflict, her heart saying to fall for the boy in all his charm, her brain telling her to be smart about this, and stay a friend.
With a small smirk on her face, Autumn turned to the boy. "Of course I am."

While holding the sleek banister, Andrea steadied herself with one hand and slipped on her clear mask. Being as careless as she was, Andi didn’t even know the rules or point of the mask. She just knew that it was mandatory to wear, but nevertheless, she wasn’t grudging against it. She didn’t really care and knew that people probably wouldn’t be able to recognize her under it. She didn’t need to wear much jewelry, just pearl stud earrings, because her dress had many black beads embroidered onto the white fabric. However, the fabric was the problem. She had to try to keep it clean. The even bigger problem was her heels. She had worn heels multiple times before, but never these high. It felt like she was walking on stilts. After absentmindedly patting down her low, side ponytail with her free hand, Andi continued down the long staircase. At least my dress isn’t long, or I’d have a double problem Andi mused to herself, reaching the bottom of the stairs. The heavily decorated hall was a bit overwhelming, but beautiful. Different sized and shaped bright orange pumpkins were arranged above everyone, floating in mid air. The dim yellow fire glowing from within each of them made Andi smile and she felt warmer, also. While observing the decor, her mask turned purple without her being aware of it.
